Spa MaintenanceIf you’re a spa owner, you know that it doesn’t come cheap. That’s why for your wallets sake and to expand the lifespan of your spa, you need to make sure you follow through with routine spa maintenance.

Spa Maintenance Includes…

Testing the Water

One of the most important things you can do is to test your water. Testing your water insures that your water is balanced is important because a spa that is too acidic or basic will cause discomfort, murky water and even can cause damage to your spa equipment. PH readings, Total Alkanlinity Test, Calcium Hardness Levels, and Shocking are just a few of the tests that can be done on your water.

Your Heater

The heater is what makes a hot tub a HOT tub, so you can see why this is an important aspect to maintain. There are a few things to keep an eye on regarding your spa heater: no heat, reduced heat, corrosion, dry fire, and power problems. The most common reason you might need to change your heater is a dry fire. This occurs when the spa water does not reach and/or flow through the heater, which causes the heater level to rise to an unsafe level and eventually detroys the heater. If you have problems with no heat or reduced heat this could be a caused by the heating coil within the heating element failing. Power problems are caused by a short circuit from water intrusion. To avoid these things, be sure to keep an eye on the water level in your pool and remember to check or replace your heater right away if you are experiencing no heat or reduced heat.
